What is the story that defines your life? What is the narrative which helps you see the world and find your place in it? You may not realize it, but all of us are living by some sort of story. It could be something as common as the story of the American Dream or the beloved story of the underdog. Or it could be a cultural narrative like the ones told by the philosophies of conservatism, progressivism, or relativism. The reality is, even if you don’t realize it your life has been shaped by a particular story. Everything from your hometown to your chosen political party shapes how you view the world and your place in it. In this series we will explore the metanarrative of Scripture to see how the grand overarching story of Scripture tells us not only who God is and how God is at work, but also how this Story defines and directs our lives as God invites us through Scripture to find our place in it.

A metanarrative is “an overarching account or interpretation of events and circumstances that provides a pattern or structure for people’s beliefs and gives meaning to their experiences.” In this series, Metanarrative, we will explore how the overarching story of Scripture is the story of God’s redemptive mission to restore us and all of His creation to shalom by putting all things right and making all things new in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. Our aim in this series will be to ask of Scripture, not, how does Scripture relate to my life, but rather, how does my life relate to the story of Scripture?

Tension is not something we often think of when it comes to Christmas, yet if you pay attention it is everywhere.

Though Christmas is often a season marked by comfort and joy it is also a season that brings the tension of stressed schedules, stretched budgets, patience spread thin, and strained relationships. Try as we might to avoid it, tension is a reality of the Christmas season. But as we will explore in this series it is also a part of the Christmas Story.

In this series for the season of Advent we will explore the tension of the Christmas Story to see how God is present and working in and through the tension of despair and hope, doubt and faith, weakness and strength, and the mystery of Christmas that is God with us. As we explore the tension of the Story perhaps we will find hope in unexpected places.

December 3, 2023

The book of Haggai is about the people of Israel's return from exile and their neglect of God and rebuilding the Temple. But, more than calling the people to task for their laziness, the book of Haggai is about God refocusing the hearts of His people on Him in order for them to re-engage His purposes for them.

In this 4 week series on the book of Haggai, we will look at how God works to call our attention to His presence in our midst so that we too might refocus our hearts on Him and re-engage the mission that He is accomplishing in Jesus Christ by His Spirit.

The book of Haggai is about the people of Israel's return from exile and their neglect of God and rebuilding the Temple, but more than calling the people to task for their laziness, the book of Haggai is about God refocusing the hearts of His people on Him in order for them to re-engage His purposes for them.

In this 4 week series on the book of Haggai, we will look at how God works to call our attention to His presence in our midst so that we too might refocus our hearts on Him and re-engage the mission that He is accomplishing in Jesus Christ by His Spirit.

The word stewardship means, "The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care." As Christians we are to recognize that we are stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. We are not creators, and we are not to be consumers, we are stewards. Everything from our children, our money, and even our lives are gifts that God has entrusted to us. In this new summer series, we will be exploring what it looks like for us to be good and faithful stewards of our time, talents, and treasures.

In the first half of the series, we will look at what it means to be good and faithful stewards of our lives, money, and technology. In the second half, we will look at various spiritual practices such as sabbath keeping, scripture reading, meditation, and prayer, that will help us grow as good and faithful stewards.
