The word stewardship means, "The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care." As Christians we are to recognize that we are stewards of all that God has entrusted to us. We are not creators, and we are not to be consumers, we are stewards. Everything from our children, our money, and even our lives are gifts that God has entrusted to us. In this new summer series, we will be exploring what it looks like for us to be good and faithful stewards of our time, talents, and treasures.

In the first half of the series, we will look at what it means to be good and faithful stewards of our lives, money, and technology. In the second half, we will look at various spiritual practices such as sabbath keeping, scripture reading, meditation, and prayer, that will help us grow as good and faithful stewards.

Some of the ways they serve the church are by providing church leadership with tools to mobilize church members in serving others, providing support and assistance to churches starting new ministries, and being a central location where the needs of families can be heard, verified, and referred to churches with the appropriate resources.

Check-in time is at 4:45 pm.  They will begin with drills at 5 pm. There will be a guest speaker each evening at 6 pm, and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Volunteers are welcome and encouraged to arrive early to help set up.

Prayers:  Please keep those who are preparing to leave for the mission trip to Alaska this Saturday, July 22, in your prayers, asking God for traveling mercies on their way there and on their way home Saturday, July 29.  Please also pray for protection, joy, spiritual growth, and opportunities to serve and share the good news of the Gospel.

Attention Members of the Immanuel Community: Whether you are new or have been a part of Immanuel for decades, you are invited to a Sundae Sunday Storytelling event on Sunday, August 20th at 3:00 p.m. The newly formed Corps of Dreaming is in a process of discerning who we uniquely are as a church and what God is calling us to. As a part of this process, we want to invite everyone who is a part of the Immanuel community whether you are a long time member or a  returning visitor, to share your stories about what drew you to Immanuel and what makes Immanuel special to you. We will have ice cream and a full sundae bar to enjoy as we gather around tables in the Family Life Center to share stories with each other. The storytelling will take place in small groups with at least one member of the Corps of Dreaming present. Come enjoy some ice cream and a time of fellowship as we learn from each other about what makes Immanuel special. Please RSVP on the bulletin board page of our church website at www.icrclansing.org so that we know how many people to prepare for.

In our culture we are tempted to find our identities in everything from the number of likes we get on Instagram to the expression of our sexuality. At best it has become confusing and at worst it has become damaging. Who am I? Where do I belong? And what is my purpose?

These are questions that we are going to attempt to answer in this new series as we explore why the resurrection of Jesus matters and how through it we are freed to live a better story in Him.
