October Mission of the Month: “No Senior Without a Christmas”- We will be collecting bottles of shampoo ( There is a box outside of the sanctuary) as well as taking a special offering on 10/21 for this special event.

Backpack Ministry- We will be filling bags today! If you are interested in helping, please come downstairs to the pantry directly after service!

 Crop Walk:  Is today! Registration begins at 1:00 p.m., walk begins at 2:00 p.m.,   please keep all of our walkers and rockers in your prayers!

 CONNECT: Please join us for dinner Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. Activities for the kids will begin at 6:15 p.m. The lesson for this week is about how Jesus taught his friends to fish. Kids…We are going fishing with Uncle Chuck. Come prepared to catch some big fish!

A Night of Fun and Food: Saturday, October 20, we will be having an all church game night! Everybody is invited to bring their favorite game and their favorite snack to church. Tables will be set up in the choir room. All ages invited! A signup sheet has been posted on the bulletin board in the Family Life Center!

Rick and Jackie H. will present their travels to Uganda on Sunday, October 21 at 4:30 pm.  Rick has much more to show us than we have seen in his presentation on September 7.  Refreshments will follow the travelogue. There is a signup sheet in the family Life center.  Please come and experience Uganda!

 October Mission of the Month: “No Senior Without a Christmas”- TRIAD fills 350 boxes with household supplies, non-perishable food, and holiday cheer. The boxes are then delivered to needy, older adults living in the tri-county area by a uniformed law enforcement officer or fire personnel. We will be collecting bottles of shampoo as well as taking a special offering on 10/21 for this special event. There will be a box outside of the sanctuary beginning 10/7.  

 Sunday School / Children and Worship: Sunday School will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. – Children and Worship is for 3yr olds through 2nd grade. For the safety of the children, a parent or responsible adult must be present before the children will be released.

 Backpack Ministry- Next Sunday we will be filling bags. If you are interested in helping, please come downstairs to the pantry directly after service! The more helpers the better! Thank you so much!

An Evening of Southern Gospel Music at South Church:  Friday October 26, 2018. Sheryl E would like to order group tickets for our church. Tickets are $12 each. If we get group tickets, we can get in early and sit together! Please let Sheryl know if you are interested.

Thanksgiving Plans? If there is enough interest, plans will be made to share a Thanksgiving dinner at church at 5:30 p.m. Thanksgiving day. The turkey will be cooked at church and participants will be asked to bring a dish to share. The members of Siloam Nepali congregation are being invited to participate as well! A signup sheet is posted in the Family Life Center.

Christmas Program:  We are looking for participants (actors/ performers/ helpers) of all ages. There is a sign up poster in the Family Life Center with more details. September Mission of the Month…Immanual’s Backpack Ministry… This ministry provides food to 160 children at Cumberland school once a month. With your help, this has become a vital part of this neighborhood and church.  The children are better for these backpacks and their teachers notice a difference!

 The Great Lakes City (RCA) Executive Team has approved the criteria and formation of a Search Team to select our next Classis Leader and is seeking applicants. We Want You! Diversity on the search team would include an equal number of elders and pastors, male and female participants, and include geographic diversity. It should include representation from racially diverse people, those who attend large and small congregations, established and new congregations, as well as younger and older participants.  Want to shape the future of our network of churches?  Please apply to be on the GLCC Search Team (due Sept. 30, 2018).  More information is available here:  https://tinyurl.com/yckrxyey

 “BRICK AND MORTAR” REPORT:  This is to keep you informed of upcoming expenses at ICRC.  1. Replacement of one furnace/AC unit and service on another AC Unit  in the Family Life Center: Estimate $7600   2.Resurfacing, filling approximately 1000 feet of cracks, repainting lines in the parking lot: Estimate $3825   3. Service on floor buffer used in Family Life Center: no estimate yet.

Mark your calendars! Painting with Sandi S. begins this Tuesday September 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room. Anybody is welcome with any level of talent! ($12 pp)

 “BRICK AND MORTAR” REPORT:  This is to keep you informed of upcoming expenses at ICRC.  1. Replacement of one furnace/AC unit and service on another AC Unit  in the Family Life Center: Estimate $7600   2.Resurfacing, filling approximately 1000 feet of cracks, repainting lines in the parking lot: Estimate $3825   3. Service on floor buffer used in Family Life Center: no estimate yet.

CONNECT: We had a great summer with CONNECT! The kids participated in many activities and shared in the love of Jesus! CONNECT will resume again on Wed nights beginning September 19. Please join us for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Activities will begin at 6:15 p.m. The theme for the 19th will be GAMES, GAMES, GAMES!  Wednesday, the 26th is BIKE PARADE night.  Bring your bike, trike or wagon for any repairs it may need or to shine it up.  We are also going to decorate your bikes and there will be a BIG PARADE with prizes!!!

Basketball Camp!   Approximately 70 kids participated through the week. Many of these kids would never have the chance to attend a camp of any kind, and to have the bonus of a really good meal each night is such a blessing.  Thank you to those who worked in setting up last Sunday, worked throughout the week and in the kitchen to prepare the meal.  Praise God for the seeds planted in these young hearts!

Prayers for Missions: We have Linn, Rick H.(leaving 7/1) and the Houston Clean up group (leaving on July 7) for whom to be praying! The Alger, MI people prepare to leave on July 26 also.

On the AM Dial 1390 (Quartet time on Saturday morning), and 1580.  There are teachings by great people of God, as well as music. What a blessing to have these resources.  Let’s let them know we appreciate them!

Congregational Meeting:  TODAY  is our annual update on the life and ministry of Immanuel.  We will also be considering Julie Lewis and Kerri Miller for Deacons, and Marcia Jackson and Sue Feenstra for Elder.  Please be in prayer for this meeting and these people so that we will clearly hear God’s leading for our ministry in Lansing.

 Missions:  There are some needs for one of our summer mission sites in Alger, MI.  They need to get Life Jackets, youth, adult and X-large for the Mission Site; also they are in need of a gently used fridge.   Please call Cecile and Liz S. if you can help!

Gospel Festival 2018 is taking place in Potterville on June 8-9 starting at 11 a.m. each day. There will be 18 bands providing gospel and contemporary Christian rock music as well as children’s games.  More information is available on their Facebook page.
